Suppose the Journal receives a complaint alleging that a contribution to the Journal violates copyright or other intellectual property rights, or contains significant inaccuracies, libelous information, or other illegal items. In that case, the Journal will investigate the complaint. The Investigation may include a request that the parties involved substantiate their claims. The Journal will decide, in good faith, whether to remove the allegedly erroneous material. If the complaint is well-founded, the Journal's decision not to remove the information should reflect the Journal's opinion that a legal defense or exemption may apply, such as fair use in the case of copyright infringement or veracity of a statement in the case of libel. The study and choice should be documented in the journal. If the article is found guilty after an investigation, it will be subject to a retraction policy.
