Aim and Scope

The JPAIR Institutional Research aims to publish research in the organizational setting that includes the “collection, analysis, and reporting of information leading to improved industry, planning, and operating of institutions of post-secondary education” (Karen L. Webber, 2010). The journal publishes articles on these themes:

  1. students - retention/attrition; enrollment management such as yield rates, flow through various programs within an institution, between institutions; needs assessments – academic and non-academic; demographic profiles/ diversity issues;
  2. faculty - salary studies, activity/productively, assessment/teaching and learning, demand/flow models;
  3. financial economic - budgeting/financial planning, economic impact studies, cost analyses, resource management, total quality improvement;
  4. technical - fact books, technology and tools, statistical packages, theory, practice, and ethics, records and data management;
  5. institutional - institutional effectiveness, outcomes assessment, accountability, support of the self-study, peer studies, institutional comparisons, planning and policy analysis, admissions and external surveys.
